Reuben Bowles Born 10th January 1983 Currently living and working in London Education 2003-2006 - BA (Hons) Fine Art - Bath School of Art and Design Artist Statement Working with a mixture of acrylics, inks and varnishes, I create images of everyday scenes, highlighting the inclusion of modern communications and surveillance equipment into our shared environment. Mobile phone masts sit atop buildings and hillsides, poles bristle with CCTV cameras, the dark robotic structures rise above us. They feel out of place and almost sinister, yet they form an integral part of our modern society. My paintings bring these often-ignored monolithic structures into a gallery situation to enable the viewer to confront their ideas and feelings about them.
